Are hardway bets worth making?
Saturday, April 5th, 2008Hardway bets are thought of as a sucker bet by some and others love them. The difference of opinion has to be with how you have been treated in the past with hardway bets. The odds are 7 to 1 on ten or four and 9 to 1 on the six and eight.
If hardways are showing with some consistency among the many dice rolls, then this bet can be a stack builder. I am of the school that on a hot table all bets have some merit as the house is losing and the bigger payoff bets are the ones that will hurt them the most. I have parlayed a $5 hard four up to the table max bet of $200 and then it hit one more time before a seven rolled. This so called sucker bet made a serious contribution to my chip stack.
You can play dice and never bet this bet and not be missing anything. On the other hand my system on hardways is very simple and modest. I will bet an equal amount on each and if one of them hits I will double the bet on that number. When a number is removed by it showing the easy way, I do not replace it. So after several rolls I may well have only one live bet going. If sevens are coming up to often, I will cool it on making this bet. The table tells me when I should consider making hardway bets. On a hot table I will definitely be making these bets. The reason for raising the bet when one hits is the numbers do have a tendency to repeat and this is the way to recover the losses that you will have or have already had with this bet. A three or four repeat with and increased bet each time will make up for a lot of losing bets and probably put you ahead for the bet.
The only way to see if hardway betting is for you or not is to try it and let the table tell whether to continue or not. I have no idea as a long time gambler who is right about hardways. They have been good to me even though I know the house edge is high on this bet. I do pick my spots as mentioned above and that should be true of all dice betting. You do not want to open your wallet on a cold table. At least wait and take advantage of a favorable table.
