Online they can only be obnoxious if you are willing to read the dribble they type. Turn them off and it will not matter what they type as you will not see it. Also you should complain to the site support team with the players playing name and the extent of your complaint about them. Many of these jerks have never played in a live casino and they would be rudely taken care of very quickly if they tried their classless act at a live table. The pit boss would warn them and if they continued they would be 86ed out of the casino. This is a common resolution in a live casino for someone who is acting out of line. Players have been removed from tournaments in Vegas for this over the top behavior. Poker room pit bosses will not tolerate this unnecessary behavior.

Whining a little when you get a bad beat is not what I am talking about. Making uncalled for remarks about the “moron’s play” that beat you is never acceptable. Name-calling and disrespect because the player played a miracle draw and beat you will not be allowed for long in a live casino. When players ask me how I could have played the hand that I did against them, I just smile and say it looks like a good idea now. Or it was a hunch or an itch in my left ear. Their question is rather insulting, as you are not obligated to play a hand the way they would play a hand. After all it is your money and you took the risk. When you make such a play just smile and keep raking in the pot. Sometimes in Holdem you can remind them that it is called Holdem for a reason or that it is a seven-card game.

If they continue to berate you ask for the pit boss. He will set the out of line player real quick. Poker room bosses do not like heated squabbles at a table.

The difference in the two games can be traced back to the fact that in Holdem each player makes their hand up from seven cards. In Omaha there are nine cards available to all players. This two-card difference allows bigger hands to show up more often.

A new player to Omaha that is used to playing Holdem will get slaughtered at first, as they will play the hands like they did in Holdem. A good small hand in Holdem has a huge chance of losing in Omaha. It takes a while to see this and learn it by losing money on second and third best hands. A flop in Omaha that has three suited cards is likely to end up with at least one flush being dealt. A flop with a pair will end up with trips or better in most hands. This is far from true in many Holdem hands. The fact that each Omaha player is holding four cards makes the difference.

Betting large bets on flushes and straights like they were the “holy city” early in the poker hand could easily bite you when the River card has been dealt. The lesson here is do not be too proud of this kind of hand until the board is completed. Full houses and better show up routinely in Omaha.

In Holdem large pairs and two pair hands are of real value. They can and should be played in a strong manner. In Omaha they will get you in trouble often. If you compare Omaha HiLow to Holdem there are other factors at play. The possibility of two winners makes for huge pots in Omaha HiLow, but it also means that you can put a lot of money in the pot and make very little profit on a split pot. At least in Holdem if you win the pot you will rake it all in.

Another major difference is you are only playing with seven cards in Holdem since each casino player is dealt two cards and the Flop is five cards. In Omaha each player is dealt four cards and the Flop is the same. The extra two cards make the game much different and changes the type of hands that can win. Big pairs will hold up in Holdem and will usually lose in Omaha. Straights and flushes are common in Omaha. They are far less common in Holdem. A pair on the board may mean that trips are present in Holdem. In Omaha it will likely end up being a full house. These significant differences are due to the extra two cards in Omaha.

Omaha pots can be much larger as players have more possibilities to draw too. This means that there is more calling of bets and the player with the current best hand is probably raising the bets. Starting hands are figured differently in Omaha when compared to Holdem. Suited ace king is a good starting hand in Holdem. Double suited ace king is a good starting hand in Omaha. Since the winning hands in Omaha are higher value hands than Holdem, the player must be more selective in the starting hands in Omaha. All of these differences are traps for a new Omaha player who is used to playing Holdem. If they value their hands like they do in Holdem, they will pay a healthy price to learn this will not work.

Omaha has bigger pots and therefore can be more expensive to play. Hands that look like winners get out drawn all of the time in Omaha. Far more often than Holdem hands are out drawn. If you are going to play Omaha read a good book on the game and play at a low betting limit while you learn to play.

Playing hunches is part of gambling and there are players that are truly psychic about the flow of the cards. If you are one of these casino players you have a gift that should not be disregarded. Knowing when to play a hunch can be as simple as the outs are there and it is a good gamble. Other times it is a very strong feeling that a certain card will be dealt next. When it happens it is surprising and not surprising. Gamblers that have this ability know what I am talking about and those that are not blessed this way think it is so much processed hay.

When you do this play, you must be prepared to lose, as the hunch may not come to pass. On the other hand when you bet on the come, and win the feeling is like no other in gambling. It can set the tone for the entire session of poker and the rush may have just started. Most players’ of hunches would rather make the bet and lose than not make it and watch it come in.
