Roulette conjures up betting a large bet on 22 and having it hit and raking in the 35 to 1 payoff. This could and does happen, however most casino players will also bet a block of numbers with a single bet. You can bet all of the red numbers or black numbers with one bet. Or odd or even numbers can be covered with a single bet. Placing your bet at a specific space on the roulette table layout lets you bet a block of numbers. You can cover all twelve numbers in a column by betting one of three columns. Another block bet will cover twelve numbers across like the first twelve or the second or third group. There are special inside bets that let you cover two to five numbers at one time. All of these bets are just an easier way to bet a group of numbers rather than placing a bet on each one of them.

The payoff depends on the total numbers involved. The more numbers covered, the lower the payout if the bet wins. A twelve number bet will have a payoff of 2 to 1. A two number bet will payoff at 17 to 1. As the total numbers increase you can see the payoff is lower. A four number bet will only payoff at 8 to 1. These block number bets do offer the chance to use a little progressive betting strategy. For example the four number bet can be progressively bet four or five times and still turn of profit. As long as the payoff will cover the total bet plus a profit this strategy will be a winner. The problem is that the table may not cooperate and all of the spins for a series miss the group you have selected. This series of progressive bets can become expensive.

If you couple this idea with waiting number betting, you can remove some of the losing bets. The waiting number betting plan is simple. Do not make a wager until the group you are interested in has not come up for ten or more spins. Then start your progressive betting. You can still lose, but you have eliminated a large number of losing bets. The secret to winning is making as few losing bets as you can.
