Counting Cards
I know that counting cards is looked down upon, but can it actually be done when playing online? I know there are some people who are really mathematical and can keep up with things like that but I don't think I would ever be able to do it.

I would imagine if a site says it's using a certain size shoe and it's an honest legit site, you would be technically able to count cards. I have yet to really try in a live or online game, I just get too easily distracted.

I don't even know how they do it in actual casinos. I saw the movie 21 and they were using codewords, hand signals, and working with teams. I think it is so complicated that one person doing it online would be near impossible. Plus I don't know how they do the decks in an online casino, if they actually discard cards until the whole deck is used.

I think online casinos use infinite cards so that counting cards won't be possible. Casino owners have expected this so they will make sure that players won't be able to count cards.
Counting cards is not that hard and you only need to remember the cards that have been flashed already. The companions on the movie 21 just make diversion so that the person winning won't be detected.

I have a feeling that there has to somehow be a strategy to the online games, as well. The computer is programmed, after all. But it could be an extremely tough code to crack.

I would imagine the runners of the site have something in place to prevent card counting. I've never really thought of it until now, but it might be possible.

I don't know how you could count cards on a live casino site, because the live site isn't actually using real cards. They're using a computer program to simulate the card game, and I don't know how you could crack the program well enough to not only establish the pattern, but predict future hands. It's not easy to do in real life, and there aren't many people who can do it, so I think it would be nearly (if not completely) impossible to do it online.

I don't think counting cards is possible in an online casino for two main reasons. Firstly, online casinos use infinite cards which means it's virtually impossible to count them. Secondly, you need to bear in mind some casinos may use AI players at tables to moderate any irregular counting/mathematical issues.

I go with the others as online casinos use programs that has infinite stack of cards. This is a good thing for casino owners as they don't need to watch their players. You can only count cards inside real casinos but like you said, it is looked down upon and you might end up getting banned.

Online casinos may not admit it but they do use computer programs that has a positive house edge. One good example is by using infinite stack of cards as against the usual 6 or 8 decks in a live casino environment. With this in play, it would really be mathematically impossible for anyone to be able to count cards online. For as long as they don't advertise that they are using 6 or 8 deck cards at their online blackjack tables, they aren't cheating their online players by using computer programs that uses an infinite number of decks. I've read somewhere that online casinos don’t need to cheat to make money, the built in house edge is sufficient to ensure financial security.
