    Poker chip collecting

Are there any poker chip collectors here? I met a guy once who had this fabulous collection of poker chips, including all sorts of vintage chips. I didn't realize there was such value in some of those chips, often far above face value. I've started saving one or more of each type of chip whenever I visit a new casino or when new chips come out.

I do not collect chips, but I bet it makes for an interesting collection. I was watching Pawn Stars and someone brought in a bunch of vintage chips. I do not remember the value, but they looked cool.

Some of the poker chips my friend had were really old. A few were from casinos popular back in the early mob days. They had beautiful lithography and were valuable enough that he kept them in special locked cases.

I'd love to see some of those from the old gangster era. It would be neat to have some associated with the Rat Pack, too. I'm sure there are ones from casinos like the Sands and others.

It seems like the chips on the Pawn show, were either related to the Rat Pack or a casino they frequented. I like vintage stuff, because it seems like the designs and thoughts put into the items are better than the mass produced stuff of today.

I like to collect a chip from each casino I visit, because they make for a unique memento of your trip. The only bad thing is I haven't really found a way to display them, so I've just been keeping them in a drawer in my jewelry box. Does anyone here know of a nice way to display them?

I only have one chip that I've kept and it was from a vacation that my husband and I took to Vegas. It is a five dollar chip from the first hotel we gambled at together. He wasn't my husband at the time.

I'm not really a poker chip collector, because I favor online play more than live casino play. I kept a chip from the first live casino I ever played in, but that's the only chip I have.

I can understand the appeal of that for any budding poker player or experienced player. However, it's not for me. Poker is a game I enjoy but I think you have to be a real fanatic of the game, regardless of how good you are, to want to collect poker chips.

I'd like to look at the collection of chips but I won't collect chips because I don't play often inside real casinos. I do one or two chips that are left in my pocket when I play in real casinos but I don't know exactly where they are right now.
