See if you can find a site that allows you to play free games. Once you feel you have a good understanding of the game, and a good winning strategy, then play for money.

My tip would be to find practice games first. Learn how the game really goes before you start putting money into it. You don't just carelessly want to throw your money away. If you're going to lose it, at least know what you are doing.

You are right ernest. We can play any game in the internet for free so it is better to practice with play money first. You can then play with real money when you feel you are confident enough to gamble your money.

I like the idea of practicing with play money first. While I've never played online video poker, the one time I played it offline, I hated it even then. Slots are okay as long as you're playing with tokens or coins. I did not like playing with just electronic money. That's one thing I'm concerned about with using a virtual casino.

Reading the rules and terms of service is great advice. So is the part about playing for fun without risking any money before you lose your stake and get disenchanted with the game. Know how much money you are willing to lose.

Before you go into investing real money, practice until the odds are going your way. Write down your money management plan and stick to it. Hold yourself accountable in some way. Follow your rules and don't ever change them mid-game.

We practice all of the time during weekend games. We have always loved a nice game after a good dinner on the weekends, its even better during family get together's. When you learn someones bluff it can go a long way in the real world too.

I hadn't thought of getting together and playing with other family members. That's a great concept, and one that would be a lot of fun. We could pool our money and then split any winnings without anyone risking losing too much. It would be like all those company pools that win big in the lotteries.

My tip would be research your casino's! Make sure they are getting good reviews and are paying out. It would be awful to have winnings that never get sent to you. I always believe research is great for anything involving money! I think reading the rules and playing for fun first are also good tips.

Try each game and pick the ones you have the most fun with. Always set a budget, if you do not you are in for trouble. Know when you need to stop. Some people will keep playing, thinking that win is just around the corner. This could also end bad. Most of all, just have fun!

I would reiterate some of the advice given above about researching prospective casinos before you spend any money with them. Also, research the game(s) you plan to play. Slots, for example, are set up in favor of the house, so know going in that the odds are in the casino's favor and not yours. Make sure you understand what the requirements are for you to withdraw your money, too. Read the rules slowly and don't be afraid to contact the casino if you have any questions!
